Children’s Homes...

FARA has built and manages two residential homes, each with 16 children aged between three and 18 years – St. Nicholas at Suceava and St.Gabriels in Bucharest. We also manage a Hostel at Suceava caring for teenage boys from St. Nicholas home. The children are referred by social services and state orphanages, many suffering from neglect and deprivation. Most have psychological and behavioural problems linked to past emotional and physical abuse. Healthcare and good nutrition form an integral part of nurturing the children.

Wherever possible, the children attend local schools, but FARA provides additional tuition in the residential homes to make this possible. The homes are supported locally by a pediatrician, psychologist and speech therapist. FARA has an ongoing training programme for its carers provided by professionals from both U.K. and Romania.

Our skilled and dedicated team of Romanian carers continue to develop new ways of nurturing and healing vulnerable and abused children. FARA’s family style homes programmes are currently regarded as models of childcare in Romania.
