Who Are We?

This is the privacy policy of FARA Foundation (known as FARA Charity or FARA), which is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 07432706) and its registered office is at 51 High Street, Walsingham, Norfolk, NR22 6BZ. It is also registered with the Charity Commission (registration number 1139349).

FARA is committed to transforming the lives of marginalized children and young people from Romania’s poorest communities. We are also committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains what personal information we collect and how we will use it.



What personal information do we collect?

If you wish to make a Gift Aided donation to FARA we will need to collect the following information from you: contact details (name, address, email address, telephone number, date and how you signed up) and whether you are a UK tax payer. If you ask to be added to our database to receive information about our news, fundraising and how your help makes a difference to the lives of children and young adults in Romania, we will collect your name, postal or email address and may record your preferences as to the types of information you would like to receive.

If you contact us by email, phone or post, to discuss or ask for assistance with making a donation, legacy or to find out more about our work, we may retain your personal contact details to enable us to respond to any such query.

We may also collect contact details from third parties who supply services to us or who assist us in the running of FARA.

Our website does not use cookies to track your preferences.



How do you deal with online donations?

If you wish to make a donation to FARA online, including sponsoring a child, regular giving or a single donation, you will be directed to the website of our chosen partner, currently Online Giving Ltd (trading as Charity Checkout - https://www.charitycheckout.co.uk).

If you follow a link on our website, please note that the other website (including that of Charity Checkout) will have its own privacy policy and you should check this before you submit any personal information to that website. Other websites may also collect cookies to track your preferences.

We do not receive any personal information from Charity Checkout when an anonymous donation is made. If a donation is not made on an anonymous basis we will receive from Charity Checkout the name, address and email address of the donor so as to allow us to thank them for their donation and contact them once in respect of whether they wish to receive future updates as to our work.

All personal data on any online donation is collected by Charity Checkout and shared with FARA. We do not pass any personal data to Charity Checkout.



How do we use your personal information?

If you ask to be added to our database, we will use the information you provide to send you information about our news, fundraising and how your help makes a difference to the lives of children and young adults in Romania in accordance with your stated preferences. We will do so on the basis that you have consented to us processing your personal information in this way. You can stop receiving such communications from us at any time as these communications provide easy ways to unsubscribe or update your preferences. You can, in any event, unsubscribe or update your preferences at any time by emailing mail@faracharity.org or calling 01328 821444.

If you have made a donation to FARA and asked for this donation to be Gift Aided then the personal data you supply will be used to enable us to claim Gift Aid. We may also use any personal data supplied by donors to contact them to thank them for their donation and to enquire as whether they would like to receive further communications from us. We process your information in these circumstances on the basis that we have a legitimate interest in doing so.

If you have contacted us with an enquiry we will use any personal data supplied solely for the purposes of endeavouring to answer that enquiry.

To ensure that the data we hold about you is accurate and up to date, we may occasionally use information sources that are in the public domain to verify your contact details.

We will not use your personal information for any purpose not explained in this privacy policy.



Where do we store your personal information and how it is kept secure?

Some of the information you provide to us will be transmitted electronically, e.g. information provided by email. We would remind you that information transmitted via the internet is not completely secure and although we will do our best to protect any information transmitted in this way, we cannot guarantee its complete security. We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data being accidently lost, accessed or used in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers located in the United Kingdom. No information you provide to us is transferred to, or stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality. We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.



Who do we share your personal information with?

We may share your personal information if we are under a specific legal obligation to do so (for example where we are required to provide your details to HMRC in order that we may claim Gift Aid on your donations).

We may need to share limited information with our service providers who help us to prepare and send you our communications or process your donations, credit notes and other responses. However, we do not allow these organisations to use your data for their own purposes and we take care to ensure that they keep your data secure and delete it when it is no longer needed.

We use the services of MailChimp to send marketing emails out to those who have consented to receiving information about the work of FARA.

Except as set out above, we will not share your personal information with any other party (whether for marketing or otherwise).



How long do we keep your personal information?

We will keep your information for the following periods of time:

Where is your personal data held?

Your personal information will be held in the United Kingdom and we will not transfer it out of the European Economic Area (also known as the EEA).



Your rights in relation to the personal information we hold

You have the right to:

Request access to your personal data (commonly known as a "data subject access request"). This enables you to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to check that we are lawfully processing it.

Request correction of the personal data that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate data we hold about you corrected, though we may need to verify the accuracy of the new data you provide to us.

Request erasure of your personal data. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal data where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it. You also have the right to ask us to delete or remove your personal data where you have successfully exercised your right to object to processing (see below), where we may have processed your information unlawfully or where we are required to erase your personal data to comply with local law. Note, however, that we may not always be able to comply with your request of erasure for specific legal reasons which will be notified to you, if applicable, at the time of your request.

Object to processing of your personal data where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party) and there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground as you feel it impacts on your fundamental rights and freedoms. You also have the right to object where we are processing your personal data for direct marketing purposes. In some cases, we may demonstrate that we have compelling legitimate grounds to process your information which override your rights and freedoms.

Request restriction of processing of your personal data. This enables you to ask us to suspend the processing of your personal data in the following scenarios: (a) if you want us to establish the data's accuracy; (b) where our use of the data is unlawful but you do not want us to erase it; (c) where you need us to hold the data even if we no longer require it as you need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; or (d) you have objected to our use of your data but we need to verify whether we have overriding legitimate grounds to use it. Request the transfer of your personal data to you or to a third party.

Withdraw consent at any time where we are relying on consent to process your personal data. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain services or information to you. We will advise you if this is the case at the time you withdraw your consent.
