As part of his first state visit to Romania HRH The Prince of Wales travelled to FARA’s headquarters in the Bucharest suburb of Popeşti-Leordeni. There he met residents and staff from our family homes, therapy centres and 'Foyer' residential training projects.
On arrival His Royal Highness was greeted by our founder and President Jane Nicholson MBE, Executive Director of FARA Ines Bulai, and the Foundation’s patrons in Romania Felicia Filip and Princess Marina Sturdza.
Children from St. Gabriel’s greeted their royal guest with bread and salt, according to Romanian tradition.
At the end of the visit the Prince received presents of decorated eggs, an icon and a handmade rug. And from one of the local residents he received a traditional sprig of boxwood.
His Royal Highness has been Royal Patron of FARA Foundation since 2002. This is not his first visit to the FARA Foundation projects. In 2003 he visited St. Nicholas Family Home in Suceava.
In his years as Royal Patron of the prince has assisted FARA by hosting a number of successful fundraising events in London. He has also sent regular messages of support and continues to take a keen interest in our work.
